Deposit to Bitfinex from Taiwan: Buy USDT on MAX
Contents
If you live in Taiwan, the usual way to get money into Bitfinex for lending is to buy USDT with New Taiwan dollars (NTD) on MAX, a Taiwanese exchange, and send the USDT to Bitfinex on-chain. Pick the right network and deposit straight into your funding wallet, and you can start lending as soon as it arrives.
Check your account levels first
Bitfinex requires Basic Plus verification or higher for USDT deposits, and accounts opened after March 1, 2022 also need Intermediate verification to use margin funding. Finish verification first, so your money doesn't arrive in an account that can't lend yet.
On the MAX side, you need a verified account and a linked Taiwanese bank account before you can deposit NTD and buy USDT.
Step 1: Buy USDT on MAX
Deposit NTD to MAX, then buy USDT with it. Check MAX's fee page for current trading fees.
Step 2: Choose a network both sides support
USDT runs on several blockchains, and both ends of a transfer must use the same one. These are the USDT networks MAX offers (screenshots in this guide show the Traditional Chinese interface):

Of the USDT networks Bitfinex supports, the ones MAX also offers are TRON (TRC20), Avalanche C-Chain and Ethereum (ERC20). Polygon, BSC (BEP20) and Arbitrum One are available on MAX but not accepted by Bitfinex; send on one of those and your funds will get stuck.
All three shared networks work. They differ in fees and speed. MAX only shows the actual fee after you pick a network on its withdrawal page, and fees change with market conditions, so check before you send.
Step 3: Get a funding wallet deposit address on Bitfinex
On Bitfinex's wallet page, click Deposit, choose Tether tokens, then pick the network you settled on in step 2, for example Tether (USD) on Tron. You'll see addresses for the exchange, margin and funding wallets:

If the funding wallet has no address yet, click the button next to it to generate one. Depositing straight into the funding wallet means you can lend as soon as the money arrives, with no internal transfer needed.
The exchange wallet address in the screenshot is masked. Every account has its own addresses, so always use the one generated in your own account.
Step 4: Withdraw USDT from MAX
Back on MAX, withdraw USDT on the same network as your Bitfinex address, and paste in the funding wallet address.
Before you submit, check two things:
- The address format matches the network: TRON addresses start with T, while Avalanche C-Chain and Ethereum addresses start with 0x.
- The first and last few characters of the pasted address match what Bitfinex shows.
For your first transfer, send a small amount and wait for it to arrive before sending the rest. On-chain transfers can't be reversed, and if you pick the wrong network or paste the wrong address, you may never get the money back.
After it arrives
Check Bitfinex's wallet page to confirm the USDT is in your funding wallet. The minimum offer is 150 USD. Once your balance clears that, you can place offers yourself by following the Bitfinex lending guide, or hand them to a lending tool.
If it lands in your exchange wallet by mistake, that's fine: move it to your funding wallet inside Bitfinex. Internal transfers are free.
