Bitfinex Lending Rates Report: October 2026

Generated from Bitfinex's public funding candles (api-pub). APR = daily rate × 365, not compounded; monthly averages are volume-weighted; "after the 15% fee" is the share lenders actually receive. Past rates don't predict future returns.

This month

USD 2-day lending averaged 5.3% APR in October (volume-weighted), below September's 6.73%. Among the monthly averages of the past 12 months, that ranks seventh highest, level with last December's 5.3%. The months above it are July's 7.18%, August's 7.11%, September's 6.73%, last November's 6.57%, January's 5.89% and May's 5.44%. On 10 of October's 31 days the daily average was below 5%. The highest daily average was 6.71% on October 7 and the lowest was 4.52% on October 10. The usual range of hourly closing rates (P10 to P90) was 4.4% to 6.88%.

USD 2-day lending filled about 3.5 billion USD in October, against about 3.9 billion in September. Volume was lower, and so were rates.

USDT slipped from 6.36% in September to 6.2%. Its daily averages ranged from 4.04% (October 27) to 9% (October 7), and the usual range was 3.88% to 9%. On 6 days the daily average was below 5%. USDT 2-day lending filled about 0.9 billion USD, the same as September at this rounding.

Longer periods averaged more than 2-day loans: 7.68% for USD 30-day, 8.61% for USD 120-day, 9.24% for USDT 30-day and 9.95% for USDT 120-day. Volume was thinner: about 1.1 billion USD for USD 30-day and 1.2 billion for 120-day, and about 0.2 billion for each USDT long period, under 25% of USDT 2-day volume. Borrowers can also repay early, so this gap isn't extra return you'd be sure to earn by lending long.

How the numbers work

  1. 01Data comes from Bitfinex's public funding candles for fUSD and fUST, at the p2, p30 and p120 periods. Times are UTC, and anyone can recompute these numbers from the same API.
  2. 02Daily APR = that day's volume-weighted average daily rate × 365, not compounded. The 2-day figures use hourly candles; 30- and 120-day figures use daily candles.
  3. 03The monthly average is weighted by the whole month's volume, not a simple average of the daily figures.
  4. 04After the 15% fee = average APR × 0.85, the share lenders actually receive. It doesn't account for time your money sits idle between loans.
  5. 05Typical range: the month's hourly closing rates ranked by volume, taking the 10th and 90th percentiles.
  6. 06We don't list the single highest or lowest fills: tiny trades often print extremes like 0% or several hundred percent, which would only mislead.

Rates are set by the market, and past numbers don't predict future returns. For how interest is calculated, see How Bitfinex lending interest works; for picking a loan period, see Bitfinex lending period.
